Palmers Greens first ever Art Trail co-created with the community.
Film by Abi Sinclair
The Palmers Green Arts Trail features new murals created by The Matchbox in collaboration with local residents and communities, supported through Enfield Council’s Curate Enfield grass roots public art programme and by Arts Council England.
The trail also incorporates existing public artworks located around the main town centre, commissioned and curated by Palmers Green Action Team, Hive Curates and Arbeit Studios; and spotlights key cultural and community organisations.
Artist and Matchbox Collective member Ellie Fryer has illustrated a beautiful map of the arts trail which is available in print at Starfish Loves Coffee, Philanthropy CIC, Ruth Winston Centre, Stitch! and Palmers Green Library or download and print at home using the following link:
These new and established artworks play an integral part in the council’s vision for Palmers Green, which is developed in close collaboration with local communities and aims to create a town centre which grows and greens through the involvement of its community, diversifying the economy, promoting cultural activity and improving the public realm.
These new murals could not have happened without the creativity, energy and commitment of public art champions, Aykut Hilmi, Lydia Hammer, Nidal Suresh, and artist Alex McHallam.
